yes, ia m finally with Yoo-mi and Mark !!!
Today, I was in Alampoondi village working with Kumar (Director) and Prem (Marketing Manager) of Gandhi Rural Rehabilitation Centre (GRRC).
I am currently in Brucebridge, about two hours north of Toronto, with my friends Bailey and Kari, cooking vegetarian food (which they really appreciate) and weaving with Bailey. Bailey is a crafts person and she has a handloom. We put a warp on it and we are weaving a carpet using the waste material from the toys and puppets Bailey makes. I am also using my time in Canada to strategize on my work in India to create a holistic approach to all my activities.
I am looking forward to reconnecting with all of you soon.
On 14th October, 2006 Alessandra L’Abate and Bailey Renshaw attended the Textile Society of America’s biannual Symposium held in Toronto, Canada where 300 fiber artists from around the world gathered. Here we met Hazel Lutz, a professor at the University of Minnesota who promotes khadi as a medium for American fiber artists. We were delighted to also interact with Uzramma, a field activist working to return khadi production to Gandhi’s vision of self-reliance.
